The Picasso museum is the ‘must see’ place to visit in Barcelona. The genius that was Pablo Ruiz Picasso is shown in this magnificent collection of over 3500 art pieces. Picasso Museum is arranged in chronological order revealing his relationship with Barcelona from his youthful age right up to the last years of his life.
Established in 1963, the idea of opening up a museum dedicated solely to this genius came from Picasso’s lifelong friend Jaunme Sabartes, whose donation of 574 has made a significant contribution to this exhibition. After Sabartés death in 1968, Picasso himself donated 1000 items of his early work and school books, academic pieces and paintings from his Blue Period. This permanent collection also consists of 42 pieces of ceramic (vases, dishes and plates) created by Picasso during the 1950s. Perfect place to visit as part of a
