The Joan Miro Foundation, Centre for the Study of Contemporary Art is a museum of modern art honouring Joan Miro and is situated on the hill called Montjuic in Barcelona. Since 1975, Joan Miro Foundation has become one of the popular museums in Barcelona and is also strongly dedicated to promoting and publicising the work of young contemporary artists. There are many luxury or budget hotels nearby such as Villa Emilia, Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya or the Catalonia Barcelona Plaza Hotel.

The Miro Foundation building was designed by Josep Luis Sert offering open space, with big terraces and interior courtyards to allow for the circulation of the visitors. From the outside visitors get a stunning view of the glorious city of Barcelona. The building also includes a library, an auditorium and the Alexander Calder’s mercury fountain. Nearby attractions include The Magic Fountain, Poble Espanyol, Olimpic Village and the Monjuic Communications Tower.
