El Poble Espanyol more commonly known as Spanish Village is a large open-air museum show casing the popular architecture from the different corners of Spain through replica pieces of architecture, craft workshops, shop and restaurants. Featureing 300 works of contemporary art in a permanent collection, Poble Espanyol is the home venue for the Famous Flamenco show at tablao de Carmen. Other points interest close-by include the
Catalan Art Museum and the Ethnological Museum.
The Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) was originally built for the 1929 International Exhibition, with the ambition of showing visitors a representative sample of Spanish architecture. But due to hugely popular demand it was preserved as a leisure and cultural area. The village consists of a large square, picturesque streets, the Plaza Mayor, a town, a church, a monastery shops and residential buildings.
