MACBA is a museum deciated to works from the second half of the 20th century. Established in 1963, from the motivation of two art critic’s arguing the need for a contemporary art museum in Barcelona as the famous artists of Catalonia already had their own special museums. MACBA holds important works from international artist, with exhibitions changing every 3-6 months. The best known are likely to be Klee, Fontana, Tapies and Saura and a whole host of sculptors, painters and filmmakers. Regular film projects, conferences, workshops and audiovisual performances take place.

The surrounding square and architecture outside of the museum is the most-well known place for skateboarding due to the MACBA great reputation for skateboarding photography and cinema.

FREE entry into the MACBA Barcelona Contemporary Art Museum to all visitors. Another contemporary art museum, Contemporary Culture Centre is next door to MACBA. Situated on the Placa de Angels, the closest metros stations are the Catalunya and Universitat.
